1. We believe in one true and living God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—these three are one. 2. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the revealed and inspired word of God and the only rule of faith and practice, particularly the New Testament for saints under this dispensation. 3. We believe in the fall of Adam and of his posterity in and with him into condemnation by transgressing God’s law; in the total depravity of the human race; and in the impossibility of any of them to recover themselves or gain the favor of God by their own works or by an act of their own free will. 4. We believe in the eternal love of God to His people and in the eternal election of a definite number of the human family to grace and glory, and that there was a covenant of redemption (with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) before the world began in which their salvation was secured and that they in particular are redeemed. 5. We believe God’s people, sinners as they are as related to a fallen parent, have been and will be effectually called, quickened, and born of the Spirit of God; they are justified by the righteousness of Jesus Christ imputed to them, and no other way. 6. We believe that all chosen in Christ will be called, consecrated and sanctified, and will be supported by the Spirit and kept by the power of God so that they shall persevere in grace and not one of them shall be finally lost. 7. We believe that good works are the fruits of faith, and that after conversion they justify us in the sight of men and angels and are evidence of our gracious state. 8. We believe there will be a resurrection of the dead—both of the just and the unjust—and a general judgment, and that the happiness of the righteous and the suffering of the wicked will be everlasting. |
